Week 5 Principal's News 15/08/25
Jump Jam 🕺🏻
This weekend, we have 5 teams competing in the Dunedin competition for Jump Jam. 4 of these teams have been coached by Miss Hardie (one of the cartwheeling dynamic duo from the production). Again, Rosarah has given up so many lunchtimes to teach the choreography, calls and moves. Thanks also to Mrs McBeath and Miss Youngs, who are also coaching. I am excited to watch the event on Sunday and share with you the results of our hard-working Jump Jamming tamariki.
School Board elections 🗳️
By now, you should have received your voting information for the school board elections via email. As previously mentioned, this email will have been sent from Election Pilot. It is important you vote for the candidates that you believe have the skill set required to govern our school. We hope for an excellent turnout in the voting.
Parking barrier 🚨
Unfortunately, we have had to install a parking barrier in the staff car park in Tyne Street. Many parents continued to park in the drive at 3 pm even after being asked not to. This is an issue because children walking along Tyne Street at the end of the day may not be seen as you reverse out of the staff car park.
Some top tips for parking -
Only use the drop-off zone if your child is out of the gate quickly; otherwise, we will ask you to move on.
The streets surrounding the school usually have ample parking. For example, Fifield St, Selkirk St, School St, and Walton St have parks. Park there and walk up to school to wait for your child.
If you want to use the drop-off zone, waiting 5-10 minutes will probably guarantee you a space, and your child will be ready for pick-up.
If you have grandparents, babysitters or older siblings doing the pick up/drop off, please explain the rules to them.
We would love more parent helpers on road patrol. If you have some spare time in your morning or afternoon, please join us by emailing roadpatrol@kaikorai.school.nz.
Term 4 Sports registrations 🏏
It is hard to believe we are nearing the end of winter sports and preparing for summer sports registration. Please note you will not be able to register your child for term 4 sports until any outstanding sporting fees are cleared. If you would like an up-to-date invoice, please see the school office. If you would like help with paying your child's sports fees, please pop in to see me.
Paid union meetings 20/8 ✅
A reminder that some teachers, support staff, and I will be attending paid union meetings (PUM) on Thursday. Learning will look a little different as buddy classes will be operating to allow our team to attend. I appreciate your support during this time.
