Week 4 news
Mrs Ferguson and I have spent the last two days with school leaders from Otago learning from the dare to lead kaupapa, based on the research of Brené Brown. The two days were about developing brave leaders and courage cultures. Thinking about being vulnerable, living into our values and thinking about who we are and how we lead.
Some key points for me as I lead Kaikorai School are: integrity is choosing courage over comfort, taking our values from words to practising behaviour, and leaders must attend to fears and feelings or squander an unreasonable amount of time managing ineffective and unproductive behaviour. It was a really insightful two days of professional development.
Jump Jam 💃🏻
This weekend sees Miss Hardie and her jump jam crew participate in the jump jam competition. What is jump jam, you ask? Jump Jam is a fusion of dance and aerobics. Students learn a choreographed aerobics/dance routine and perform it to judges on Sunday, competing against other local schools.
Miss Hardie and the crew have spent hours and hours over the last few months in preparation for the competition. Best of luck, but most importantly, have fun out there!
Thanks to Rosarah for her commitment to the crew and for displaying the Kaik value of being keen - hīkaka - trying something new!
