Term 2 & 3 Project Based Learning

Term 2 & 3 Project Based Learning

Over the past two terms our ākonga have completely been immersed by the world of The Arts. We have been exploring music, drama, dance and visual art all to answer our driving question of ‘How can we as KAIK kids showcase our understanding of The Arts through the realms of dance, drama, music and visual art?’

From performing at the Regent Theatre in our school production to creating pieces of art, making music, and dancing, this PBL has been one that has well and truly engaged everyone actively.

A highlight of this PBL was definitely our school production. Getting all of the children up on stage was quite an accomplishment. Their energy, smiles, and outstanding performance had the school buzzing for days after!

Each hapori has explored the arts in many different ways. Pīwakawaka have been busy with art swaps, making music, and lots and lots of visual art! Our Tūī hapori have been choreographing dances, performing plays and creating beautiful works of art, including sculpting with clay. Lastly, the Kēreru team has been writing songs, performing mini-plays, learning many different instruments, and creating wonderful pieces of art to fill their classrooms!

Just like the whakataukī reminds us, our journey through The Arts has shown the power of working together. Each hapori has contributed their own creativity, energy and talent, carrying their kete, filling it with music, movement, colour and stories that celebrate who we are as KAIK kids.

We look forward to launching our next PBL project for Term 4. We have the driving question of "How can movement, relationships, and healthy choices work together to support hauora across our school community?" We are all excited to see what this project has in stall for us!
