Week 8 Principal's News
Teacher only day ✏️
On Tuesday, we had a great collaborative session on the MOE-led Maths Curriculum teacher-only day. It highlighted for me that Kaikorai is embracing the implementation of the new mathematics curriculum and using the new Oxford resources as an addition to our fantastic teaching. Our teachers are dedicated to providing the best learning experiences for our ākonga, and this was evident through our kōrero and mahi on Tuesday.
We will have a further MOE-led Maths TOD in Term 3, and I will confirm the date when I receive it.
Alice, the Artist mural creation 🎨
Alice has been diligently prepping and painting the wall for our mural design. If you pop up to school this weekend, you can chat with Alice and watch her paint her art on the wall between Rooms 12 and 13. I am excited for her to bring the children's artwork to life.
Opera 🎶
On Monday, April 7th, the NZ Opera will come to Kaikorai for our Kererū and Tūī Hapori ākonga. The NZ Opera will perform a 45-minute version of Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love, sung in English, set in a typical Kiwi Fish and Chip Shop, and performed with set and costumes. This is a wonderful chance to experience the talent of these amazing performers. The $5 cost per child will be added to your accounts.
Staffing news 🧑🏼🏫
I am sad to announce that Miss Courtney Dunn is leaving Kaikorai at the end of week 3, Term 2. She is relocating to Boston, USA, where her husband works. Over the many, many years she has worked here, Courtney has been a big part of so many families' lives, and I acknowledge the considerable impact her departure will have.
I will inform you of the opportunity to farewell to Courtney closer to the time.
Communication with teachers 📧
A reminder that our team will reply to emails and messages during work hours. You should not expect a reply during the weekend or when teachers are home with their whānau in the evening. The SeeSaw messages you receive on a Sunday are scheduled to be sent.
I appreciate your understanding of the importance of teachers having quality family time and reasonable working hours.
