NZ World teachers day 🍎

Today is NZ world teachers day - Haere ki te kōrero ki ia - tell a teacher how much they mean to you! I would publically like to acknowledge the kaiako at Kaikorai School. All our teachers are kind, caring professionals who embody and role model the school's values daily. I see this at the gate in the morning, on duty, when they teach, coaching sports after school, running jump jam, choir and orchestra; the list is endless. I appreciate all of you and thank you for the mahi you do for the children at Kaikorai.

Can you help? 🛠

We have salvaged a rimu ceiling beam from the hall demolition and some blue stone from the original school. I would love to create a small sculpture to sit in our new admin area. Do we have anyone in our community that can polish up a small piece of the wood and create something out of Kaikorai School's history to take us into the future? Please contact me if you can help or point me in the right direction! Thanks in advance.

Property update 🦺

The junior block is being demolished the weekend of 4-5th November. Please avoid coming up to school to play on the school grounds during this time, please note while the demolition is occurring  the playground will be completely closed.

Primary teacher-paid union meetings –

Teachers in our school will be attending paid union meetings in the weeks of 14-25 November to discuss the progress of negotiations for their collective employment agreements, the proposed unified public service pay offer and their Wāwāhi Tahā | Time 4 Tamariki campaign.

This campaign aims to win smaller class sizes, more support for high needs students, better recognition of cultural skills, greater job security for our essential relievers and to fairly value and recognise the work of teachers.

There will be multiple options for meetings in the period of 14-25 November to minimise disruption to teaching and learning. Our school will aim to ensure the least disruption to children's learning while upholding the right of teachers to participate in their union meetings.
