Week 4 Principal's news

Wellbeing week 💗

What a fabulous week it has been, shining the spotlight on well-being. We have had Kay doing yoga with the seniors, stories about kindness and friendship being read across the school, PALS taking extra sessions for all classes, and an extra special buzz at Kaikorai. Thanks to Mrs Ferguson for her work in this space, highlighting the importance of taking care of ourselves and one another, very much manaakitanga in action.

School docs review 📝

The whole school community is invited to review and comment on specific policies and procedures each term. This feedback is captured using the review button on topics that are under review.

Term 2 review topics:

Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) please visit

Winter school closures ❄

During winter and on the days when weather conditions are marginal, our school may have a later start time than usual or be closed. We may have a delayed opening or close for the day as part of the Otago Primary Principals Association "All Call" system. A small group of principal's in conjunction with the police, taxi and other groups, decide whether Dunedin schools open late or close for the day due to snow.

In order to let our school community know of these changes, we will post a message on SeeSaw, Facebook and our newsletter.

As in all cases, you should analyse your own risk, and if you don't feel it is safe to get your child to school, then please let the office know and stay safe.

Winter weather clothes 🧣

We love our children being outside even when it's cold. Playing and running outside is what we want to see - please ensure your child has clothes that are suitable for being outside even when it is cold.

We already have (4 weeks in!) one wheelie bin and 2 black bags of unnamed and unclaimed clothing. This will be delivered to the op shop in the coming weeks as we do not have the ability to keep storing it.

Māori Hill football club ⚽

Māori Hill football club is trying to find Year 6 girls football players for their  10th-13th grade all-girls team that plays on the turf on Saturday.

They play on the turf each Saturday at 8.30 am or 10 am. It's an all-girls grade, so great for those that are just starting out.
