Principal's News 7/11/25
Kia ora Kaikorai whānau,
It is hard to believe we have just finished week 5 with only 29 school days left of the year.
There is a lot of meaningful mahi happening around our classrooms with the spotlight on our PBL health and wellbeing focus.
The continued focus on Te Whare Tapa Whā and physical activity has been positive. Recent activities for the Kererū hapori included Hot Shot Tennis coaching and Ki-o-Rahi.
Today, the Tūī hapori is heading to Camp Tirohanga for their annual Education Outside The Classroom (EOTC) day. A day spent outside the classroom is always immensely beneficial, as it allows our children to challenge themselves physically and practice resilience in tricky situations. I look forward to sharing photos with you in next week's newsletter!
Report writing and end-of-year report 📝
Our teachers are in the final stages of writing your child's end-of-year report. I see reports as a celebration of the effort, progress and achievement that your child has made throughout the year, and I do genuinely enjoy reading every one of them.
They are time-consuming to write, so you may notice an extra reliever or two in your child's class at this time of year. I provide each teacher with a day of release to help them complete their reports, allowing them to work from home and focus without interruptions.
Reports will be emailed to the registered email address we have on file on 8th December. If you have changed your email address and have not notified the office, please do so by next week.
I appreciate your support during this busy time!
School council ✅
Our recently formed school council has had a great start, with two meetings under its belt. They are underway with a flurry of ideas on things they wish to change, implement, and improve. I have a meeting scheduled with two councillors next week to discuss the condition of the back field. I've received a few emails about initiatives underway and some very excited councillors telling me about their plans. It is inspiring.
Please make note of their first initiative - Stock the bus. I hope we can support both the school council and Presbyterian Support.
Orchestra 🎶
This week, Mrs Kumar, the Kaikorai Orchestra and Balmacewen Intermediate had a combined workshop followed by a concert for whānau. It was a wonderful celebration of the skills and effort put in throughout the year.
We are fortunate to have the skills of Mrs Kumar to encourage the musical abilities of our Kaik Kids!
There are no Principal's Awards this week as we did not have an assembly.
Kia pai tō rā whakatā.
Ngā manaakitanga,
Beth Downie
