Week 2 Principal's news
Nau mai haere mai
Welcome to our newest Kaik Kids, Georgie, Kaelem, Caide and Aiden; we are so happy you are here.
Property news 📚
I was thrilled to see children leaving school this week with a stash of library books under their arms; thank you to Mrs Galbraith, who has worked additional hours this week to get this space operational. Each class has a dedicated library time, and the library is open during lunchtime for all pupils.
The next phase of our playspace is underway, with the other half of the basketball surface being laid on Monday. This means even more space to run around; court markings will happen when all asphalting has been completed. The terracing is almost completed, and the next big push is to restore the back playing field grass. Very exciting times. Again, if you have not had a look through the new block, nau mai haere mai - any time!
Enrolments ✏
If you have a child turning 5 in the next 12 months and have not yet enrolled, please contact Sharon or Susie in the office or enrol directly by following this link. If you know anyone in our school zone who has not yet enrolled, please share this information with them urgently.
Near misses 🚨
We have had a number of children this term step into traffic and try to run across the road to their parents at 3 pm.
Please have a conversation with your child about road safety and the safe places to cross. Consequently, all classes will focus on road safety during road safety week from 15-21 May. Also, please think carefully about your driving habits (speed, u-turns, indicating) when you are around our school. If your children are dropped off by a caregiver, grandparent, or babysitter - please have this conversation with them too.
