100 days smarter
On Tuesday 5th August, the Pīwakawaka Hapori will be celebrating 100 days of learning at school- we are officially 100 days smarter!
To mark this milestone your child might like to
* dress up as a 100- year- old person
* wear 100 things (eg. 100 stickers, buttons, pom-poms)
* add the number 100 to their outfit in a creative way
Throughout the day we will be doing activities that celebrate our learning over the last 100 days.
PBL (Project-Based Learning)
We are continuing our focus on The Arts this term, and the children are really enjoying exploring each area- dance, drama, visual art, music.
Dog Safety
Each Pīwakawaka class will have a session learning about dog safety this term. The programme covers Important topics such as how to safely approach a dog, how to behave around dogs, and how to recognise and respond to their behaviour. These sessions will help the children to feel confident and stay safe around dogs. The sessions are being delivered by the DCC.
Red nose day
The Pīwakawaka team were a sea of red last Friday to support red nose day. It was fantastic to see so many children joining in to support this worthy cause.
Cross country
We were lucky to have amazing weather, and all children had fantastic attitudes, at the Cross Country last week. The children trained hard in the lead up to the race, and gave their best effort on race day. Well done to everyone for taking part, and a special congratulations to our place getters on their success.
Headlice
We have a few reported cases of head lice in some classes. Please check your child's hair and treat it if necessary. Regular checking helps prevent the spread, and keeps everyone compfortable and focused on learning. Thank you for your support with this.
Spare clothes
It is helpful to us if you keep a spare set of clothes in your child's backpack, to cover any accidents that may happen.
