Term 2 - Week 5 Deputy Principal's News 30/5/25
As I walked through the learning streets and classrooms this week, I was so impressed with what I saw ~ the KAIK values in action! In every classroom I walked into, children were welcoming, happy, and learning. Our Structured Literacy and Maths curriculums are in full swing, and I saw engaged learners deeply involved in their work. Classrooms were calm with a quiet murmur of on-topic conversations, children greeted me politely with genuine smiles, and I saw a rich variety of learning — from fitness to writing, reading, art, and everything in between.
What stood out most was how proudly the children shared their work with me, showing wonderful progress from the beginning of the year until now. What a wonderful place to be!
School Reports and Whānau Learning Conversations 📝
Our teachers are reviewing assessment data to prepare your child’s Term 2 school report. On Thursday, June 19, these reports will be emailed to the address we have on file. Please contact the office to update any recently changed email addresses.
The following week, we’ll be holding our whānau-teacher learning conversations. This is a valuable chance to sit down with your child’s teacher to discuss their report, learning progress, social development, and emotional well-being. We encourage all families to take part in this important kōrero.
In the coming weeks, you’ll receive an email with a link to our booking portal. From there, you can select a time that suits you on Tuesday, June 24, or Wednesday, June 25.
Staffing News 👥
This week we welcomed Tracey Smith to our learning support team as a new Teacher Aide. We’re excited to have her join us and know she'll be a great support for our tamariki. At the same time, we say farewell to Alex Maffey, who finishes with us this week. Alex has been a friendly face around our school, providing support as a teacher aide to our former refugee students. We’re so grateful for the care, kindness, and dedication she has shown during her time at Kaikorai and wish her all the very best in the future!
Lost Property Overflowing! 👕
Our lost property bin is bursting at the seams! This is a good reminder to label your child's clothing. If your child is missing any clothing, please take a moment to check the bin outside the hall. Unclaimed items will be donated to charity at the end of the term.
