Kererū Hapori-Final Newsletter for 2025!
Reflecting on a Year of Success: Thank You from the Kererū Team
With the holiday break just around the corner, we, the Kererū team teachers, pause to acknowledge the tremendous journey we have shared with you this year.
We extend our deep gratitude for the time, energy, and commitment you have invested in supporting our Kererū team students throughout 2025. Your support has been instrumental in creating the positive, dynamic learning environment that defined this year.
A special mention must go to our Year 6 students: You have been a simply phenomenal group of learners! It has been a privilege to teach you. We send you off with our warmest wishes and confidence as you prepare for the challenges and adventures of intermediate school.
To all students leaving Kakorai: Thank you for the joy and energy you brought to our school. Always a Kaik Kid, always a part of our memories!
We sincerely thank you for a year of collaborative excellence and look forward to reconnecting in the new year.
Thank you to our Learners!
Throughout the year, our Kererū learners have stepped up academically and socially to build a wonderful school community. They have demonstrated our KAIK values and served as role models for our younger learners.
Thank you! We are so proud of each and every one of you.
Our Kererū Teachers!
We have great teachers and an excellent support team at Kaikorai, and we look forward to teaching our new classes in 2026.
I want to extend my thanks to Rosarah, Kane, Hannah, Tony, Heidi and Garrand for all of their outstanding work this year.
Year 6 Camp
Recently, we had our school camp at Camp Columba. We were lucky to have a week of fabulous weather and incredible experiences.
The school camp proved to be a phenomenal journey, where our children faced challenges and embraced the opportunities that were on offer. Our Year 6 students tested their resilience and perseverance.
I would like to extend a massive thank you to our camp parent volunteers. You were all amazing throughout the week!
Year 5 Activity Week
Our Year 5 students had an incredible time during Year 5 Activity Week!
On Tuesday, they headed to the pool, where students rotated through four awesome activities: IRB boating, snorkelling, aquatic challenges, and a free-play session in the wave pool and on the diving boards.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the group split into two. One group headed out to Long Beach for rock climbing and caving, where some were even lucky enough to spot penguins! The other group stayed at school to create their own stop-motion films. The next day, the groups switched so everyone had the chance to experience both activities.
They wrapped up the week on Friday with a fun-filled morning at the Roslyn Bowls Club. The club set up a range of stations for us — table tennis, darts, corn hole, foosball, bowls, and even a bowls obstacle course. There are definitely some future bowls champions in the making!
A massive thank you to all our parent helpers throughout the week for taking time off work and supporting us. We truly couldn’t do Activity Week without you!
Drama Club Performance
Our team was fortunate to be invited to the Drama Club and Choir dress rehearsal for their Christmas play, ‘Santa’s Rugby Wish’. We enjoyed the performance immensely and were impressed by all our students' performances.
Swimming
During this term, our classes completed an intensive series of eight swimming lessons at Moana Pool, in partnership with Just Swim. This program was structured to include one crucial session dedicated to water safety, covering the correct use and wear of a life jacket, and seven sessions focused on refining swimming technique. Across all eight lessons, students demonstrated significant improvement in both stamina and overall swimming proficiency.
Thank you to all of the parent volunteers who attended these sessions. Giving your time meant our classes could enjoy a leisure swim at the end of each session.

Road Patrol 2026
I have attached the 2026 Road Patrol Roster. Our road patrollers have now had their training and are ready to do their part in helping to keep our learners safe when crossing the road at the end of the day.
A huge thank you to our 2025 road patrollers! You did a magnificent job, no matter what the weather.
Have a wonderful Summer break!
