New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) Week!

New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) Week!

A huge shoutout goes to Mrs Barnes, one of our Teacher Aides, who is now a fluent communicator in NZSL (New Zealand Sign Language). She spent time visiting classes this week to teach the kids some basic sign language as well as some vocabulary tied to our PBL unit on space.

For those who want to keep practising, Mrs Barnes runs an NZSL Club every Thursday at lunchtime. Anyone who wants to give signing a go or build on what they've learned is welcome to pop in.

Learning how to communicate with each other in different ways makes our school a much more welcoming and inclusive place for everyone. Ask your child about a new sign they learned!
