Week 6 Principal's news
Art exhibition 🖼
How incredible was the art exhibition? What stood out for me was the quality of the art teaching and skill development, the variety of media and the final art pieces, even though all classes worked around the same theme. I was thrilled to see great-grandparents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, and siblings come through the exhibition.
Thank you for the positive comments, emails to teachers and general support you gave the team. We were very proud of our tamariki and their art and loved hearing that you were, too. Thank you for your support.
Staffing and Classes 2024 🏫
With mixed emotions, we will farewell Miss Felicia Ward at the end of this year. Felicia has won the Deputy Principal's position at Green Island School. We are so proud of Felicia for taking the next step in her leadership career, but we will miss her exceptional and skilled teaching and fun personality. Felicia joined Kaikorai School 7 years ago after only teaching for 2 years, and she has worked hard to become the Junior Team Leader and Assistant Principal. Congratulations to Felicia on her promotion.
We will inform you once the position has been filled.
Kelsey Heaney will finish at the end of this year, and we thank her for creating a warm and engaging learning environment for our newest Kaik Kids.
Class structure 2024
Next year, our syndicates will have new names. Juniors will be known as the Pīwakawaka Hapori, the middles as Tūi Hapori and the Seniors as the Kererū Hapori.
Pīwakawaka classes will be R13 with Miss Dunn and 3, Year 1-2 mixed classes, Tūi will be 3, Year 3-4 mixed classes, and Kererū will be 4, Year 5-6 mixed classes.
The leadership team has completed the process of finalising the 2024 class lists, taking into account many factors. Your child's teacher for 2024 will be included in their end-of-year report, which you can expect to receive electronically on December 8th.
Teacher Only Day 👩🏻🏫
A reminder that we are closed next Friday, 24th November, for a Teacher Only Day. Kelly Club is open all day and is accepting bookings.
Please catch me at the gate or pop in for a kōrero; my door is always open.
