Piwakawaka Hapori news
Aroha mai, Aroha atu- Love recieved demands love retuned.
What a busy yet fun start we have had to Term 2 in the Piwakawaka Hapori!
PBL (Project Based Learning)
We have enthusiastically begun our new PBL topic "How can we, as Kaik kids, showcase our understanding of the arts through the realms of Dance, Drama, Music, and Visual Art?"
There are lots of colourful works of art being created and displayed in the classrooms, and most classes are beginning to work on their dances for our upcoming production. The Pīwakawaka children will be immersed in a variety of art experiences when we start Art Swaps between classes next week.
Mothers Day
Our Mothers and other special people in our lives, were our focus in many of our classes last week. Some classes created cards, some did art, and some made special gifts. We discussed what all the important people in our lives do for us, and how we can show them love in return.
Superhero dress up day
We had a sea of superheroes in our classes last week, as we thanked our road patrol heroes for keeping us safe on the roads. It was fun to imagine what superpowers we would have if we were real superheroes.
Support Staff Day
We took the opportunity on Thursday to thank all of our incredible support staff, for all of the work that they do for us both in and out of the classroom. We appreciate all of the support they provide, and the Pīwakawaka children benefit greatly from the support, care, and learning experiences they provide daily. The children enjoyed creating cards to say thank you.
In our team we have the amazing... Sue Reid, Jacinda Gibbons, Amelia Kate Macdonald, and Alex Maffey.
Pink Shirt Day
We changed out of our superhero outfits and into our favourite pink clothes today to support Pink Shirt Day, and take a stand against bullying. We are celebrating diversity, inclusion, and being Kind Kaik kids.
Farewell Miss Dunn
The Pīwakawaka team is sad to farewell Miss Dunn this week. Whilst we will miss her greatly, we will also remember her for her great hugs, funny jokes, and the way she made us feel safe and happy in her classroom. We have been making cards and learning a special goodbye song for her, and we wish her all the best on her next exciting adventure.
Welcome Mrs Baker
We extend a warm welcome to Mrs Baker, who is now taking over in Room 13. Mrs Baker has spent a lot of time getting to know the children in Room 13, and is excited to be teaching the wonderful children in the class.
