Swimming
As we get ready for our swimming sessions next week, let's focus on demonstrating our school's KAIK values. We can be Kind to our instructors by listening carefully to their directions, which helps everyone stay safe and have fun. Let's be Aspiring to the best we can be by trying our hardest, even when a new skill feels difficult. To show we are Independent, we can take charge of making sure we bring our swimming bags with our togs, towel, and goggles to school each day, and also to take it home each day. Finally, let's be Keen to show confidence and celebrate our progress as we improve our swimming skills. Working hard to show our school values will help to make our swimming lessons a positive and successful experience.

Kaikorai Read-a-thon
There is lots of excitement about our Read-a-thon. Children have been busy collecting sponsors and talking about how much they intend to read. The actual reading challenge will take place from September 1st – September 5th. After the challenge is complete, sponsorship money will be collected, with all funds going towards new literacy resources for our school.
As we dive into our upcoming readathon, let's remember to embody our school's KAIK values. We can be Kind by encouraging our classmates and recommending our favorite books to one another. Let's be Aspiring and challenge ourselves to read a variety of genres and reach our personal reading goals. To be Independent, we can make sure we have our books ready and set aside dedicated time for reading each day. Finally, let's be Keen to share our excitement for reading and celebrate every book we finish, no matter how big or small.
Term 4 Visit to Tirohanga
As a part of our Education Outside The Classroom (EOTC), classes in tūī hapori will be having a day trip at Tirohanga Camp on Friday 7th of November.
This will give us many opportunities to demonstrate the school values and gives us plenty of real life learning opportunities across the curriculum. The day will give students the opportunity to take part in the following activities: a bush walk, confidence course, bouldering wall, nature exploration, and outdoor games. Our trip will go ahead regardless of the weather. As these activities are weather dependent, we may be restricted to inside activities. These will be planned for and included in our risk management forms.
