Hungerball

We have been fortunate to have a Hungerball Arena set up in the playground for students to use during physical education sessions and breaks over the past two weeks. Hungerball is a football-based game played inside a large inflatable arena with six small goals. Players defend their goals to stay in the game. Our Physical Activity Leaders have been running games in the arena during break time. Thank you to our fabulous PALS.

Year 6 Camp

Are you receiving camp emails? If not, please emailbmcdowall@kaikorai.school.nz

Student Camp Meetings

Camp meetings will be held every Thursday afternoon next term.

We have had two camp meetings for students this term. The things we have discussed so far are...

-What happens at camp? We watched the 2024 camp video.

-The student contract outlining behaviour expectations

-The packing list

-Friendships for bunkrooms and activities

Each child has been given a camp book to record all important information. This will stay at school and will be taken to camp to help your child feel organised and safe at camp.

Balmacewen Orientation Day for Year 6 Students

Year 6 students attending Balmacewen Intermediate are invited to attend their orientation afternoon, scheduled for Wednesday, 3rd December at 1:30 pm. This is a link to the article that Balmac has sent to all parents regarding the orientation afternoon:

This article includes a PDF notice with a return slip for permission to attend.

Kererū teachers will walk the students who wish to attend to and from the event. Please return the permission slip to your child’s teacher. We will only be able to take students who return the permission slip.

Last week, we had art sessions with Rach from the Dunedin Public Art Gallery.

Read-a-thon

Thank you for your support of the Read-a-Thon! We are all looking forward to having some fabulous new literacy resources.

Our Kererū teachers are incredibly proud of all of the students who attended the Otago Polyfest.

Thank you to Whaea Ana, Emily Armstrong, Hannah Sims, and Matua Kane for all of their hard work in preparing our students for the performance.

Calling All Health and Well-Being Experts!

Our driving question for Term 4 will be 'How can movement, relationships, and healthy choices work together to support hauora across our school community?' We need some experts to support this learning. Please email your child’s teacher if you have expertise and knowledge that you would be happy to share with our learners. Some topics of interest include nutrition, mental health/general well-being, mindfulness and sports.

We appreciate your support this term. Have a wonderful and restful break.

Bridget McDowall, Hannah Sims, Kane McKay and Rosarah Hardie.
