Principal's News 13/2/26
Kia ora whānau,
Thank you so much for coming to our Whānau picnic and Meet the Teacher last night. I appreciate that it was a busy evening for many families, with touch rugby, swimming lessons, and other extracurricular events after school. It is great to come together as a community, even if you have met your child's teacher before, it is a neat opportunity to meet other families.
Next week we have our first ever Mihi Whakatau - you may be wondering what exactly this is? A mihi whakatau is a Māori welcoming ceremony intended to greet and settle visitors (manuhiri). It removes the 'tapu' (restrictions) of being a stranger, making you one with the 'tangata whenua' (hosts) and a member of the Kaikorai team!
We will be welcoming our newest learners and their whānau. If our new students have siblings already in school, they will join the manuhiri (visitors) to support them.
We welcome anyone who would like to join us on Thursday, 19/2/26 at 9:05 am
Kia pai te rā whakatā - Have a great weekend.
Beth Downie
