Term 1, week 4 news 28/2
We've wrapped up our fourth week of school, and it's been a smooth start to 2025. Routines are firmly in place, and the 8:55 am bell is helping everyone get ready for learning at 9 am. Students are settled and engaged; I thank you for adjusting to the new bell time.
I am incredibly proud of our teachers. They are very dedicated to their own professional growth, as well as the growth of our tamariki. They have navigated a rapid pace of change with the curriculum, resources, and delivery methods, all while doing their absolute best for their learners. There are many professional learning days that they are required to attend so we appreciate your understanding while relief teachers teach the class.
PALS 🏀
Yesterday, fifteen of our Physical Activity Leaders (PALS) successfully completed their training at the Edgar Centre. These Year 6 students applied to become leaders, tasked with running and organising games, activities, and events for younger tamariki during lunchtimes. The PALS programme aims to develop leadership skills within our senior students while providing our younger students with opportunities to participate in organised games and activities during lunchtime.
Kapa Haka 🎶
Kapa Haka sessions began this week with all junior students attending and those middle and senior students who wanted to give it a try. A signup formed will be emailed in the coming weeks for parents to indicate their child's commitment to Kapa Haka for the year.
Teacher only day 🏫
We have our scheduled and MOE-approved Teacher-only day on Tuesday, 25th March- school is closed. We will be working with other schools in our cluster to participate in professional development related to the new Mathematics curriculum and the effective implementation of this document using the provided resources.
Kelly Club is open for the whole day should you need to book your child in.
Road Safety ⚠️
A huge thank you to all our families who prioritise children's safety when driving around the school.
We've noticed some interesting driving decisions, especially in the rain. Remember, it's better to be a little late than to risk anyone's safety!
Please help us keep everyone safe by following these simple rules:
No Parking on Yellow Lines: These lines are there for a reason – to ensure clear visibility and safe passage for our children.
Keep Driveways Clear: Please don't park across, in, or block any driveways.
Staff Car Park is Off-Limits for Pick-up/Drop-off: This area is reserved for staff parking only.
A Friendly Wave Goes a Long Way: We appreciate our parent volunteers who help road patrol. A simple thank you or wave is appreciated.
Tryathalon 🚴♀️
For all our Kaik Kids who are participating in the Weetbix Tryathalon on Sunday, we hope you have the best time and enjoy every moment. We look forward to hearing all about it on Monday.
