Term 1, Week 4 News 20/2/26
Kia ora Kaikorai whānau,
It is hard to believe we have had fewer than 20 days of the 2026 school year. The growth that I see in our tamariki in this short time is remarkable.
Children are more confident with morning drop-offs, new friendships are blossoming, and structures and routines are firmly in place. I am sure you have noticed a difference at home, too.
On the 17-18th March, you will have the opportunity to book a 10-minute meeting with your child's teacher to discuss all things learning, social, and emotional. Keep an eye out for the booking information shared in a few weeks' time.
Mihi Whakatau 💙
Yesterday we had our first-ever Mihi Whakatau. Many of our new families were able to attend and be formally welcomed to Kaikorai Primary School. It was a lovely event with some meaningful whaikōrero spoken. A huge well done to one of our Year 6 pupils, Flynn, who did an exceptional job with his leadership role.

Walking School Bus 🚶
Did you know we have a parent-led walking school bus?
The Highgate walking school bus departs at 8:15am every morning from the bus stop on Belgrave Crescent, picking up families en route. Parents volunteer one day a week to accompany the children to school.
We would love it if others who live in and around the area joined, and parents volunteered to be able to keep this going. It is a great way to start the day and build community connections. It also gets you away from the Highgate traffic jam!
If people are interested, please text Maria on 0210785724 to be added to the WhatsApp group.
Do you have any spare brown paper bags? 🛍️
Our Parents' Group will happily take any brown grocery bags - if possible, please collect them and bring them to the office.
