Week 2 Principal's news
Welcome to our newest Kaik Kid - Silas; it is so great you are here!
Family BBQ and meet the teacher success. 🌟
The whakatauki above represents what our family BBQ and meet the teacher evening was all about. I was thrilled to see existing families welcome our newest Kaik families. Many teachers had offers of help in the classroom, and offers to share knowledge and expertise from our parents; for this, we are incredibly grateful. We want you all to be a part of our school, community, and students' learning journey.
Thank you for making the night a success.
Celebrating our Year 6 Leaders ✏
One of the exciting aspects of being a Year 6 pupil is the opportunity to give back to our school through leadership opportunities.
We have PALs (Physical activity leaders) who plan lunchtime games and activities for younger students that encourage teamwork, fun and lots of movement.
Kapa haka leaders~ our leaders lead the kapa haka, school waiata, and when the time comes for performances, we have Kaitātaki tāne – male leader, Kaitātaki wahine. We are so grateful for Whaea Ana for her leadership.
Librarians ~ Our book lovers give up their lunchtimes to issue books, read stories and tidy our library. Mrs Galbraith and all the staff appreciate you and your keenness to make our library a special place.
Office managers ~ Our Year 6 pupils have the opportunity to apply for an office manager role. This means they are rostered on for a week at a time to manage the office when Sharon or Hannah take their lunch break. They are responsible for answering the phone, signing for courier deliveries, taking messages and being the face of Kaikorai Primary School from 1:30 pm - 2 pm. Our office managers begin next week!
Road safety team ~ Our Y6 team safely get the children across busy Tyne Street. They have all been trained under the watchful eye of Mrs McDowall and Constable Ross!
Thank you Year 6s for your mahi!
Road safety 🚗
A reminder:
The Wright Street spaces outside our school are no-stopping - pick up and drop off only. Please do not park there and leave your vehicle. If you arrive early and wait for your child, do not wait there; these areas will be coned off until 3 pm to ensure it is a quick pick-up zone only. Please let anyone know who collects your child (babysitters, grandparents, friends, etc).
The other side of Wright Street is a P5.
We know parking is tight around Kaikorai Primary School, and we thank you for parking safely, following the marked signs, using the crossing and keeping our Kaik Kids safe.
As always, don't hesitate to have a chat at the gate or arrange a time to pop in and see me if I can help in any way.
Ngā mihi maioha
