Week 9 Principal's News 5/12/25

Kia ora e te whānau,

We've just finished a wonderful week celebrating books, complete with a popular dress-up day! My favourite part was being in the classrooms, reading picture books, and sharing the joy of books with our Kaik Kids. This simple act of reading together is so valuable.

Next week is our Year 6 Leavers' celebration evening. While it will be an emotional evening, it will also be packed with opportunities to recognise and celebrate the tremendous growth of these students who started their journey at Kaikorai in 2019 / 2020.

School reports ✅

You will receive your child's school report via your registered email address this Monday.

This report will include the name of your child's class teacher for 2026.

We understand that class placements, especially the resulting changes in teachers and friendship groups, can be a topic of discussion at home. Please know that the process of sorting class placements is highly complex, involving considerable time and logistical effort. We have carefully considered many factors.

I kindly ask that you frame all conversations with your children positively. We spend approximately 30 hours a week with your children and countless hours more in planning and reflection. We know your children well and ask that you support our professional decisions.

As previously communicated in multiple newsletters, changes to the classes are not possible once the reports have been finalised.

Thank you once again for your trust and continued support.

Whānau helpers morning tea ☕️

Next Thursday, we recognise and celebrate our whānau helpers who contribute to our awesome school. These are Board members, road patrol crew, school trip helpers, Parents' Group, sports coaches and the list goes on. We look forward to sharing a cuppa and some Christmas cake with them on Thursday, 11/12 at 10:20 am.

Community Consultation ✏️

We have received a 30% return rate on our community consultation, and we are aiming for more voices! Your input is highly valued, and it's not too late to participate. A reminder that you could be in to win a $200 Fresh Choice voucher for your participation.

Please follow this link.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the disco next week.
