Week 5 Principal's news

Week 5 Principal's news

The whakatauki above resonates with me as it is about our community; it's our sports coaches, our road patrollers, parents organising the school fair, and whānau coming in to share their knowledge with our tamariki - we need you all! Whilst 'light work' may be slightly optimistic, we need you to be in partnership with the school to continue to create opportunities we have here at Kaikorai Primary School. I thank you for all you do!

We hope all our Kaik Kids who are taking part in the Weetbix Tryathalon have a great time on Sunday!

Whānau - teacher learning conversations (parent interviews). 🗣

It is really important for us to kōrero with you about your child's learning, goals and how their 2024 year has started. We aim to have a 100% turnout for all our tamariki and will contact you if you haven't booked. Please book a 10-minute time slot by following this link https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/code/6eyzz

If you need more than 10 minutes, please send the teacher a SeeSaw message to arrange an alternative day and time.

If your child has had an IEP meeting in the last few weeks, you do not need to book another time.

Upcoming Anniversary Day and Easter break 🐣

Sometimes, there is confusion around Otago Anniversary Days, Easter and when schools are open.

School is closed Monday, 25th March for Otago Anniversary Day

School is closed for Easter, Friday, 29th March, and we reopen on Wednesday, 3rd April.

Road safety around school 🚗

Driving in wet weather conditions can lead to poor decision-making at times. Rainy weather often results in increased traffic on the roads as people are concerned about keeping their children dry, but this sometimes leads to unsafe driving, such as stopping in the middle of the road to hurry your child into the car, double parking, and parking on yellow lines. If your driving poses a risk to any children, we will ask you to move on and find a park elsewhere. Please do not take offence to this.

This is a reminder that the cones will be in the no-stopping drop-off-pick-up zone until 3 pm; you must not wait here for your child; again, if you do park here, we will ask you to move on. Please do not take offence to this.

Thank you for keeping all children safe, including your own.

Kelly Club Update

We love baking at Kelly Club! This week we made yummy Weetbix muffins! Dodgeball is always a fun way to burn off some after-school energy! Did you know we serve breakfast at Before School Care? Extra fuel for a great day ahead! https://kellyclub.co.nz/kelly_events/view/16485
