Tūī Hapori News
Children in Tūī Hapori have been busy working through different activities as we build on the routines and expectations set up at the beginning of the term. It is wonderful hearing students keen to share what they've been learning at school, and having a strong desire to continue some of this learning at home. We look forward to meeting with you in a couple of weeks for our whānau - teacher learning conversations. This will be a chance to talk with you about your child's learning, goals, and how their 2026 year has started.
Tūī Hapori Assemblies
Each Monday afternoon, we have a syndicate assembly in our learning street. There are a mixture of activities each week. We have used narrative picture books as a springboard for thoughtful discussions about our growth mindset, our school's values, and behaviour expectations. These conversations have encouraged students to reflect on their own actions and consider how they can contribute to making our classes, syndicate, and school a great place to be. We have also had some singing and music lessons with active participation. To balance the get-up-and-go activities, some time for mindfulness and calm is incorporated through Relax Kids activities. Our syndicate assemblies also provide a time for us to collaborate on shared projects. We are looking forward to sharing one of these with you at our school art exhibition at the end of the term. Our syndicate assemblies provide lots of opportunities for students from different classes to connect and build relationships, fostering a strong sense of community within the syndicate.

Please remember that our swimming sessions begin on Tuesday and will run for 8 sessions (Tuesday 10th March - Thursday 19th March)

Move It March
Move it, March has started! Move It March is a Dunedin City Council initiative that aims to make active travel to and from school a healthy habit. Classes are completing a Move It March card each day in March.
Walking and wheeling to school gives your child a chance to enter a prize draw for a chance to win awesome prizes. The theme of this Walk and Wheel Day is "Be Bright, Be Seen," a message that aims to keep school zones safe for children, whānau and everyone in the community.
On Wednesday, the 11th of March, there will be a dress-up day. Students are encouraged to wear their brightest clothing. Please try to walk or wheel to school on Wednesday!
Keeping Ourselves Safe
All classes have now had three Keeping Ourselves Safe sessions with Constable Ross Greer. The following ideas were covered and reviewed. It would be great if you could talk with your child about these ideas at home to reinforce their learning, and to help build confidence in knowing what to do in different situations.
Thinking about what makes us unique
Knowing where we live
Learning what to do if we get lost
Recognising our feelings, and what makes us feel safe or unsafe
Touch we like/don't like/confusing touch
How to call 111 in an emergency
Knowing who we trust, and that we only go with trusted adults.
PBL
All classes are busy working on a number of projects to share at our end of term art exhibition. Students will be working on a class piece of art, and also contributing to some syndicate and school art pieces. We look forward to seeing this all come together and sharing our wonderful work with you.
