🌟 Celebrating Ms Downie

This special day gives us the opportunity to recognise and honour the extraordinary leadership that primary and area school principals bring to our communities every single day.

This year’s national theme is "He waka eke noa" (We are all in this together), emphasising unity, shared responsibility, and strong community as our leaders navigate the changing landscape of education.

Celebrating Ms Downie

Ms Downie has been leading Kaikorai Primary since 2022, and her dedication shows in everything she does for our school.

A few things we particularly appreciate about her leadership:

• Rain or shine, Ms Downie is out at the gate at the start of the day to welcome students by name and check in with families.

• She has driven real, noticeable improvements to both our learning programs and physical school grounds over the last few years.

• She brings a positive energy to the job and naturally inspires both students and staff to bring their best selves to work every day.

• She is always approachable and works hard to keep open lines of communication between home and school, making sure parents feel heard and involved.

• She has worked to build a safe, inclusive environment where our school values are something our tamariki live out every day.

• Behind the scenes, she works constantly to secure resources, support our teaching staff, and ensure Kaikorai Primary has what it needs to thrive.

• She genuinely cares about making sure our kids are happy, safe, and supported emotionally, not just academically.

Her commitment makes Kaikorai Primary a great place to be, and we're lucky to have her.
