Nau mai hoki mai, welcome to Term 4

Nau mai hoki mai, welcome to Term 4

We hope your children had a relaxing holiday and are ready for an exciting final term!

We have an 11-week term ahead, which finishes on Wednesday, December 17th, at 3 p.m.

Staying Connected to Kaikorai School ๐Ÿ“†

Staying informed about school life is easy with our regular communication channels.

Weekly Class Updates: Your child's teacher schedule sends a "Sunday comms" message via SeeSaw every Sunday. This is your weekly update on what's happening in your child's classroom for the week ahead.

Weekly School Newsletter: A newsletter with school-wide updates from me is sent every Friday at 2:30 p.m. to your registered email address.

You can also find information on our school website and our Facebook page.

Heading into Term 4, some reminders ๐Ÿš—

  • If your child is sick or not attending school, you must phone the office to report their absence and explain the reason.

You can also let your child's teacher know as a courtesy, but this is not required.

For any extended absence from school (more than three days) for a holiday during term time or for any other reason, you must notify Beth at principal@kaikorai.school.nz.

  • The 'kiss and drop' zone outside the school is a crucial part of our traffic plan. It is a no-parking zone designed to keep traffic moving and ensure a safe, efficient process for everyone.

    • Morning Drop-off: Please drop off your children quickly so they can walk into school on their own. This keeps the line moving.

    • Afternoon Pick-up: This is a drive-through zone. Please collect your child promptly once they are waiting for you. Waiting for several minutes can cause significant backups.

Following these guidelines ensures the zone operates smoothly and safely for our entire school community.

Hats ๐Ÿงข

Kaikorai-branded bucket hats are compulsory for all students in Terms 4 and 1.

If your child needs a new hat, you can purchase one from the school office.

Please be aware that any child without a hat will be directed to play in the shade during break times.

I appreciate your cooperation in helping us keep our students sun-safe.

Rob Cope seminar ๐Ÿ“ฒ

Does your child have a device? Does your child play on your phone? Play on a PlayStation?

If so, your attendance at this digital safety seminar is essential. We are currently seeing the impacts of gaming, cyberbullying, and device addiction in our classrooms daily, and we are concerned that only 12 Kaikorai families have registered for this important event.

We urge you to join us and learn how to keep your children safe in the digital world.

Start dates 2026 ๐Ÿ“†

The Kaikorai School Board has set the start and end dates for 2026.

The first day of school for all students is Wednesday, January 28th, 2026.

The final day of the school year is Thursday, December 10th, 2026.

For a complete list of all important school dates, please refer to our school website calendar.

As always, please don't hesitate to reach out if I can help in any way. I look forward to another fabulous term ahead.
