Kererū Hapori News
This whakatauki encourages looking towards long-term goals. Pursuing the distant horizon implies continuous movement and striving. It suggests that progress isn't always immediate or easily achieved but requires a persistent focus on what lies ahead and a willingness to keep moving towards it.
Our Amazing Team!
The Kererū team teachers are bursting with pride! Our students are not just learning but actively shaping a positive school culture through exceptional leadership. Their contributions are far-reaching, from representing our school at the World Vision Conference and Kids Sing to shining on the Girls Tag field, coaching younger students, displaying exemplary manners, and warmly welcoming our newest tamariki.
Our Kererū whānau celebrates these successes every Monday with our special 'Caught Being Good' awards. This is where we acknowledge students who have gone above and beyond with acts of kindness, helpfulness, and courage in their learning.
What's truly remarkable is that the positive impact of our Kererū students is now being felt school-wide. This week alone, an incredible 27 Kererū students were 'caught being good' by teachers across all teams! We are immensely proud of these young leaders who consistently make a difference and brighten the days of those around them. Their actions are a testament to the strong values within our Kererū team and school.
We are so proud of them! Has your child come home with a ‘Caught Being Good’ award? Be sure to celebrate their ability to think of others and challenge themselves at school.
Support Staff Day
This year, we celebrated our support staff by making them bouquets of paper flowers. Every senior student made at least one flower, and when all of them were together, they looked fabulous. Thank you to our incredible support team! You are all superheroes in disguise.
Road Patrol Dress-Up Day
Wow! What a fantastic day we had celebrating our real-life superheroes – our incredible Road Patrollers! The school was buzzing with mini Hulks, Wonder Women, Spider-Men, and many more fantastic heroes, all showing their appreciation for our patrollers' important work to keep our crossings safe.
It was wonderful to see so many students dressed up as their favourite characters, demonstrating their thanks for the dedication of our road safety champions. And a huge shoutout to Ms. Downie for hosting a well-deserved and fun morning tea for our amazing Road Patroller team! It was a small token of our immense gratitude for their commitment.
PALS
A massive shoutout to our excellent Physical Activity Leaders! These fantastic students are stepping up in a big way to help coach our Tūī and Piwakawaka teams. We're so grateful for their willingness to volunteer their lunch breaks to run fun skills sessions and exciting mini-games of netball and basketball. Their enthusiasm and leadership are appreciated, and we're so excited to see them grow as student leaders within our Kura!
