Week 9 Principal's News

Kia ora whānau,

As we approach the end of Week 9 of an 11-week term, it is clear that everyone is feeling a bit tired. There is a lot of winter illness going around at the moment, and we are all looking forward to the upcoming holidays.

Thank you so much for keeping your tamariki home when they are unwell; this truly helps us limit the spread of coughs and colds at this time of year.

As mentioned last week, we are thrilled to welcome Miss Dunn back to our newly established Room 14. She will be around from Week 11.

This classroom will be made up of some of our older tamariki from Rooms 12 and 13. Moving five-year-olds through after about six months is standard practice in New Zealand schools. We are incredibly excited to be back in a position to offer a collaborative teaching space with an amazing kaiako.

A friendly reminder that our whānau-teacher interview booking portal closes this Monday at 5:00 pm.

We look forward to connecting with all of our families, so we expect every family to book a time slot. If you haven't managed to book by Monday, our team will be in touch to help you secure a time.

Matariki Celebrations 🌟

We are celebrating Matariki on the second-to-last day of term

  • 9 am - Kapa Haka performing

  • 9:30 am – 10:30 am: Buddy class arts and crafts. (Whānau welcome to join)

  • 10:30 am onwards: Shared kai (biscuits)and drinks.

Please ensure your child brings a plastic cup for their Raro drink.

Whānau Refuge Donations

We are collecting kid-friendly snack donations for the Whānau Refuge (formerly Women's Refuge) this Matariki. If you can contribute, please consider sending in items like:

  • Muesli bars

  • Chippies/crackers

  • Pre-packaged snacks

As always, please don't hesitate to reach out if you'd like to have a kōrero.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
