Principal's Tour 🍎

This week, our Cluster Principals and I had the privilege of visiting several schools in Central Otago, including Te Kura o Whakatipu o Kawarau, Hāwea Flat School, and Cromwell Primary School.

It is always a valuable experience to see how other leaders operate and to collaborate on shared focuses. We looked closely at how different schools are implementing the new curriculum, reporting to parents, driving their strategic goals, supporting staff culture and wellbeing, managing class sizes, and encouraging strong attendance.

Every community has its own unique needs, and I came away with a renewed appreciation for how tirelessly principals work to meet those challenges. Most of all, these visits gave me a continued appreciation for our own school. I am incredibly proud of the great mahi the team here at Kaikorai is doing each and every day.

Have you accessed the MOE parent portal?

The Ministry of Education is inviting schools to support improvements to their Parent Portal by inviting people who have accessed it to complete a short survey.

It only takes a few minutes and will help shape future updates. The survey closes on 20th June.

Whānau Hui 🗣️

Last night our whānau Māori had a hui. It was lovely to see new families at Kaikorai join in the kōrero.

One of the discussion points was that our families would love to know the phrases we are teaching at school each week. So moving forward, you will notice these phrases in the weekly newsletter. We would love to hear you using this reo at home.

Power cut ⚡️

Next Tuesday, power will be shut off on Wright and Tyne Streets from 8:15 am - 9 am while work is underway in the area. Please note our phone lines will be down during this time.
