🧠 Mental Health Awareness Week – Week 1
When we return from the holidays, Mental Health Awareness Week runs from 6–12 October 2025. This year’s theme is “Top Up Together”, encouraging everyone to connect with others while practising the Five Ways to Wellbeing.
Here are some ideas we’ll be introducing at school and ways you might like to try them at home:
💡 Wellbeing Practice | What it Means | Ideas to Try at Home |
---|---|---|
Connect / Me Whakawhanaunga | Spend time with others – friends, whānau, community. | Invite a friend over for a play, video chat family, or share a meal together. |
Give / Tukua | Acts of kindness and generosity. | Write a kind note, bake something for someone, or help a neighbour. |
Be Active / Me Kori Tonu | Move your body — physical activity supports mood and energy. | Go for walks, dance at home, play outside. |
Take Notice / Me Aro Tonu | Be present; notice the small moments. | Look for things that bring joy, spend time outside noticing nature, or try mindful breathing. |
Keep Learning / Me Ako Tonu | Try something new or grow your skills. | Learn a new recipe, read about something you’re curious about, or start a small creative project. |
Students will be exploring different wellbeing themes each day with activities and resources at school. We encourage you to chat with them about what they focused on.
