He rā ki tua ~ Better times are coming ☀

I spoke too soon! In Friday's article, I mentioned that we hadn't had any staff away isolating; this week was our week to begin that! Thank you to our fantastic team working incredibly hard to maintain excellent classroom programmes. Thank you, whānau, for following the public health order around the number of days necessary for isolating, being respectful to Sharon when she calls you to explain your child is unwell and keeping us informed when your child/household has a positive case.

Please follow this link for clarification on the isolation rules.

Term 2 staffing update

At the beginning of Term 2, we are opening a new, new entrants class to cater for our newest learners. Felicia Ward will be the new teacher in this room. In addition, we have appointed Miss Hannah Gold to take over the teaching of Rūma whitu / Room 7. We are excited to have Hannah join the Kaikorai team.

Emma Riley will begin her maternity leave midway through Term 2 and return to Rūma ono/Room 6 at the start of Term 4. We are currently advertising this position and will inform you when we have made an appointment.

The new build

The groundworks are well and truly underway for the new block. I received a well-written letter from one of our Year 3 pupils concerned about the beautiful trees being removed. He made excellent points about why trees are necessary and why we must replace them. I am proud of him for feeling so strongly that he chose to do something about it. We will be replacing some trees and landscaping the spaces. We are also looking to establish an enviro group and would love to build some vegetable gardens
