  • Sausage Sizzle: Thank you to all of the families who have supported our sausage sizzle for school camp. This has been an excellent fundraiser and we would like to thank all of the parent helpers who come along and help out each Friday.

  • Girls Got Game Basketball: We were super excited to have Basketball Otago visit to run the Girls Got Game Stars in Schools programme sponsored by Firebrand. This in-school program introduced our girls to basketball while encouraging them to stay active and build friendships. This was an excellent opportunity to try something new and develop movement and thinking skills in a fun social team environment. This event was provided at no cost to our school. Thank you Basketball Otago!!!

  • Kiwi Golf: Our Senior Team had an opportunity to play the amazing game of golf. We all enjoyed learning the basics of holding a number 7 iron and swinging it to hit a ball. The weather wasn’t great but we all had a great skills session with an expert.

  • Project Based Learning: Our project-based topic is well underway! We are exploring issues of sustainability and what we can (and are) doing to protect and restore our natural resources. We have been growing plants and learning about the parts of a plant and what they need to grow.

We will need the following materials. If you are able to help us, please send items along early in the term.

    • Plastic bottles

    • Succulents- we will use cuttings to grow plants

    • Large glass jars- please wrap securely in newspaper or bubble wrap in case of breakages in transit.

    • Old plastic fish tanks

    • Gravel or small stones for our terrariums

    • Any recycled items that may be useful for growing seeds and small plants.

  • Check out and try some of these great ideas for growing at home

THE WINNING TEAM WAS… TEAM 1

Congratulations and thank you to the PALS for organising a great event.

  • This week the PALS started a dance class for Junior students. The children all had a fabulous time and the Harriet, Taj, Piper and Ella did an amazing job running this activity.

  • Whānau Morning: Come along to the school whānau morning on Monday the 23rd of May from 8:45 am-10:25 am. Have a look around and see what we have been doing in our learning team.

  • Have you filled out this form for our Edgar Sports Day on Thursday the 2nd of June?

  • Epro 8: This week some of our students took part in the EPro8 Challenge. The Epro8 Challenge is an inter-school science and engineering competition. Every year over 22,000 students from throughout New Zealand take part. Students participate in a series of events: firstly within their school and then inter-school. These events are designed to promote science and engineering. The challenges proved just that this year, challenging but also a lot of fun! Congratulations to the Kaikorai Aces (Holly W, Angus C, Noah L & Eva G) for taking out first place. They will be moving on to the next stage in Week 8. Everyone involved can be super proud of their teamwork skills and efforts over the past week, it was special to see.
