Celebrating Matariki
On Thursday the 23rd of June, Kaikorai Primary School will be having a special school event to celebrate Matariki.
Matariki (the Pleiades) signals the Māori New Year. For Māori, the appearance of Matariki heralds a time of remembrance, joy and peace. It is a time for communities to come together and celebrate.
Please let us know if you would like to come to school to share your expertise and knowledge of Tikanga Māori during our Whānau group activities.

Kia hora te marino
May peace be wide-spread
Kia whakapapa pounamu te moana
May the sea be like greenstone
Hei huarahi mā tātou i te rangi nei
A pathway for us all this day
Aroha atu, aroha mai
Give love, receive love
Tātou i a tātou katoa
Let us show respect for each other
