What is going on over the fences?

Read the article from Monty from Naylor's to find out what's been going on....

It’s been much anticipated and on 5/07/22 at 6 am we managed to get the first lower-level concrete slab poured. Below is a picture taken by Skyela, Andre and Hudson Payne's father Tane Payne (Supreme Concrete Solutions Otago) on behalf of Naylor Love we would like to thank Skyela, Andre and Hudson for allowing us to share Dad’s time. With cooler temperatures, concrete takes longer to set. We used 1% accelerate but still, Tane alongside co-worker Sam was not able to finish the slab to their high standards till 7.30 pm!

Leading up to this key milestone we have been battling away against the soft ground. There was a large soft spot close to block 1. There were 3 isolated areas of soft ground scattered around beneath the footings. We discovered large rocks and were lucky enough that the biggest one was able to be incorporated into the footing. The foundation block walls have tripled in height as well as the footings. Originally 20m3 of Concrete should have established the footing. We ended up using 60m3 and a whole lot of extra backfill to get back to slab height.

What can you see next? The intention is to pour the upper slab on the 21st of July. We have pre-nail framing ex Christchurch arriving Friday. On arrival back from the school holidays majority of the lower floor should be installed with the Mezzanine floor underway.

Have a safe and fun break.
