A great tumuaki (principal) builds character, inspires dreams, encourages creativity, builds confidence, instills lifelong learning, touches our hearts and changes our lives forever.
This week, NZEI is recognising the contributions Principals in New Zealand make to their schools. Ms Downie has only been our principal since the beginning of this year, but she has already made long-lasting positive impacts on the staff, tamariki and the community she leads.
Ms Downie is always displaying our school values of being Kind, Aspiring, Independent and Keen. She instills these values in our tamariki with who she is and what she does.
We thank Ms Downie for her passion in making Kaikorai School the best it can be. Her dedication to the wellbeing of staff and our tamariki, her commitment to being out at the gate each morning to welcome every student, and ensuring Kaikorai is a clean, happy and engaging learning environment does not go unnoticed.
At our assembly today, Ms Downie was presented with special cards, poems and videos showing each class's appreciation.
Ngā mihi nui ki a koe - Thank you very much for all that you do!
