Kaikorai Primary School will hold their Book Week next week: Monday 1st - Friday 5th August. This year the theme for Book Week is 'Paws for Books.'

Reminders for Book Week:

1. *Book Fair

During Book Week we will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to purchase books at reasonable prices, while also supporting our school. Every dollar spent at the Book Fair earns our school valuable points, which we can then use to purchase books for our new library. The Book Fair will be held in the Junior Learning Street and open at the following times:

Monday - Friday      8.30 - 9.00 am

Monday - Thursday 3.00 - 3.30 pm

2. *Literacy Evening

As part of Book Week, we will be holding a Literacy Evening on Tuesday the 2nd of August at 6.30 pm - 7.30 pm in our new hall. This is an opportunity for parents to come along and hear how 'Structured Literacy' is being implemented into our literacy programmes across the school.

3. *Whānau Literacy Morning

On Thursday the 4th of August at 9.10 am - 10.25 am we will be holding a Whānau Literacy Morning at school. Parents are invited to bring along a favourite book from their childhood to read to a small group of children in their child's class. Afterwards, stay to participate in some fun activities that are enriched with language from favourite books centred around our animal theme, 'Paws for Books.'

4. *Dress-Up Day

On Friday the 5th of August we will have a fun Dress-Up Day, based around our Book Week theme, 'Paws for Books.' All children are encouraged to dress-up as an animal that has paws. For example: cats, dogs, rabbits, mice, pandas, tigers, lions.

5. *Bring a Special Book

As part of Book Week, all children are encouraged to bring along a special book each day to share with their class.

The theme for each day is as follows:

Monday       Your favourite book

Tuesday       Your oldest book

Wednesday  Your newest book

Thursday      Your biggest book

Friday           Your smallest book
