'How can we as creators tell a story through the arts?'
This term students at Kaikorai are exploring everything arts based! Classes will be participating in drama activities, visual arts and a variety of music and dance lessons throughout the term in the lead up to hitting the stage for our whole school production. This will be taking place on Wednesday, September the 28th in Week 10.
Entry events are underway for this terms PBL. Seniors took part in a surprise disco to spark their creativity and to start them dancing while other classes have been creating some amazing art pieces to help tell a story. Book week was a perfect start to exploring telling a story through the arts.
The theme for this years production is based around fairytales. This week classes have started exploring different fairytales, with some beginning to write their own narratives. This may be the perfect time to pull out some old classic fairytales at home!
We had a massive 60 people audition for a role to help tie our story together last week. Congratulations to everyone who put themselves out there, it really was so awesome to see everyone give it a go and do so well. You didn’t make it an easy choice, we have a very talented team at Kaikorai. Well done to Holly, Jedd and Yeva who will help us share our fairytales to you all later in the term.
If you have any expertise in the arts we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch with your child's teacher or email me at [email protected] if you would be keen to help us out. One of the best things for our students is to have experts visit to ignite their learning and make it authentic. We are looking for keen dancers, choreographers, artists, actors and those who are passionate about lighting, costume and prop design.
Thank you,
Rosarah
