On Wednesday the 3rd of August we had the Kaikorai Primary Cross Country - the first in many years!
It was fantastic to have the whole school competing in what were perfect cross country conditions. The horrid weather leading up to the event led to slightly muddy conditions which made the event all the more fun!
We are so proud of all our children for having positive attitudes, trying their very best and showing incredible sportsmanship. It was heartening to see all our children succeed and not give up. Kaikorai kids really are the best!!
The top 10 placegetters from Year 4-6 were selected to compete at the Hills competition on Wednesday the 10th of August. Kaikorai was well represented with 56 children. Once again, we were so proud of our runners who represented Kaikorai with pride. It was a challenging course with lots of mud, slippery hills and cold conditions but that did not dampen attitudes! A special mention to Penelope Hodgson - 1st Year 5 Girls, Eli Marshall - 3rd Year 5 Boys and James Glover - 3rd Year 6 Boys. The top 10 place getters will go on to compete at the Otago competition in September.
I would like to extend a big thank you to our teachers and teacher aides who helped make our school cross country a success. From organising and marshalling to running alongside children, your help was truely appreciated!
We look forward to another successful cross country in 2023!
