Telling a story through the arts
Classes in the middles have been working on a range of activities to build their skills and knowledge of the arts (music, dance, drama, and visual arts). Looking at how artists and creators have used the elements of art, dance, music, and drama to tell a story will help us when we move on to our next milestone of being the creators. Over the next few weeks, classes will also work together as part of our collaborative teaching and learning.
As mentioned in the previous newsletter, having people come and share their knowledge is great for our students and helps us learn more. We have a couple of experts lined up to do this, but if you have any expertise in these areas and would be happy to share your knowledge we would love to get you involved. If you think that you’ve got some knowledge or skills to share but feel a bit nervous about speaking to a whole class, we are happy to adapt by sending questions home, or selecting a small group to talk with you.
Art Gallery
All of the classes in the middle syndicate will be visiting the Art Gallery this term. Please fill out the Art Gallery Permission Form for your child. Children will need to wear their school tops and have a packed lunch and drink bottle on this day. We will be travelling to and from the art gallery by bus.
The cost for this trip is $3.00. This charge will be added to your school account.

Term 4 ~ Day trip to Tirohanga
We have confirmed our trip to Tirohanga has now been confirmed and buses have been booked. This will be a whole day trip (leaving school at 9:15 am and returning to school by 3:00 pm). There will be a $15 charge for this trip which will cover the hire of the facilities as well as the buses. We will also require some parent helpers to help out with a range of activities. A form will be sent out by the end of next week with more detail about the activities we’ll be taking part in.
Term 4 ~ Swimming with JC Swim School
We will begin our swimming sessions on the first day of next term, and these will be spread over two weeks. Our sessions will all be in the afternoon (1:00 pm1:30 pm, and 2:00 pm. We are in the process of confirming buses for our swimming so do not have a final cost yet, but it is likely to be around $80 per student. As soon as this is finalised, a permission form will be sent out.
