Jump Jam

Congratulations to our Jump Jam Teams who represented our school with pride at the regional competition. You can be very proud of your hard work and dedication. You looked like you were having so much fun up there on the stage.

An extra congratulations goes out to the Kaikorai Jumpers (Yr 5-6) who scored themselves a place at nationals. We wish you all the best for your next competition coming up in November.

Production

Our school production will be on Wednesday the 28th of September. There will be a matinee from 1 pm- 2:30 pm and an evening show from 6 pm- 7:30 pm. Please see the ‘Production Update’ further along in the newsletter for more information.

Senior classes are well into exploring their fairy tales and have all begun putting together their production pieces to tell their story through the arts. We have been having fun exploring the elements of dance in drama in our classes which ties in perfectly with our PBL. We definitely have some future stars out there!

O Mathalon

We entered two teams in the event and our Year 5 team placed 5th in their age group.

Congratulations to all who participated.

Art Gallery-Have You Completed This Form?

This term our classes will visit the art gallery. Information and permission slips will be sent out about this soon. We will require parent helpers for these trips. Please complete the Google Form link to give your child permission to attend and to volunteer as a parent helper.

PBL Swap Afternoons

Each week our senior students have had an opportunity to be part of a variety of activities to broaden their experience across the Arts.

Our students are in mixed groups across the team and are taking part in dance, music, drama, visual arts, skills-based physical education and Te Reo and Tikanga Māori.

PALS

Last week Alexandra from Sport Otago visited along with the Halberg Foundation. Our PALS took part in inclusion training aimed at helping the PALS to come up with activities that are inclusive of all students regardless of physical ability.

Wig Wednesday

Every week in New Zealand, three families are told the heartbreaking news that their child has cancer. The treatment these children undergo often means they need to brave the world with no hair. On Wednesday the 7th of September Kaikorai Primary School will support Wig Wednesday. Wear a favourite wig or style a funky hairdo, while raising money for the Child Cancer Foundation. Bring along a gold coin donation to support these children and their whānau.
