Poipoi te kākano kia puāwai ~ nurture the seed and it will bloom.

Welcome to Khloe and Elira - we are so happy you are here ⭐

The leadership team visited Holy Family School in Wānaka this week to learn about their 4-year journey in structured literacy. We were lucky enough to see demonstration lessons, look at assessment data and kōrero about their journey over time. This visit has reaffirmed for us that the structured literacy approach is an approach that works for ALL but is ESSENTIAL for some learners. We know that we have 'dipped our toes in' but we will continue to refine and strengthen our practice in the years ahead. Structured literacy is evidence-based and uses the science of reading to inform practice, not leaving anything to chance. We are excited about the next steps for the Kaikorai ākonga (learners) and kaiako (teachers).

Next week from Tuesday, I am away in Christchurch at the NZPF conference. Kristen, our DP, will be acting principal in my absence. Please reach out to her if you need to get in touch.
