Performing for an audience
It was great to see our hard work pay off this week in our whole school production, ‘Do You Believe in Magic? Children had been working so hard on improving their dance movements and actions. While some students were a little bit nervous they definitely showed our KAIK values and performed well. We used the story ‘Courageous Lucy’ to talk about their own feelings about performing on stage. Children were buzzing after their performances with many commenting that they wished they could do it all again the next day.
Art Gallery
All of the classes have now visited the art gallery. It was great to be able to walk around the art gallery and learn about a range of artists, artworks, and local history. As the art lesson was a ‘Surprise Lesson’ there was a little bit of variety in what each class looked at, talked about, and then created. Rūma Rua (room 2) created miniature turtle artworks. Rūma Toru (room 3) created some fun insect-inspired artworks. Rūma Wha (room 4) created an artwork of a machine to clean up a rubbish-filled ocean. It’s always great to be able to use such a fantastic resource as the art gallery. A special thanks to all of our parent helpers - these kinds of out of school experiences can only go ahead with your help.

The cost for 7 swimming sessions is $70 and will be added to your school account. That includes the cost of both the Jill Clarke Swim School tuition and the cost of the bus. Cost is a fixed price and no deductions can be made for missed lessons. Please talk with your child’s teacher or Beth Downie if the cost of swimming is likely to be a problem, or if your child is unable to go swimming.
Children ought to be able to dress themselves by this age – it fits with our goal of being independent. Please consider clothes that are easy for children to put on and off, e.g. no tights. Children will need to bring their togs, a towel, swimming cap and goggles. Please ensure everything is named.

Room 3: 1.30 pm
Room 4: 2:00 pm
Term 4 ~ Day trip to Tirohanga
The information below was also sent out in a Google Form by classroom teachers. Thank you to those of you who have already filled this out. While this trip might seem like a long time away, we would love to have all permission forms filled out by week one next term so that we can finalise our groups for the day.
As a part of our Education Outside The Classroom (EOTC), classes in the middle syndicate will be having a day trip at Tirohanga Camp on the Wednesday 26th of October.
This will give us many opportunities to demonstrate the school values and gives us plenty of real life learning opportunities across the curriculum. Activities are weather dependent but may include a tramp, confidence course, initiative course, bivouac building, technology challenges, and games.
Please note: Parent helpers bringing preschool children to Tirohanga is not appropriate, as it means we cannot include you in our safety ratios.
Important Information
Date: Wednesday 26th October
Leave school at 9:15 am and return by 2:55 pm.
Parent Help
We will need parent help and will need those helpers to help us to prepare equipment and to comply with guidelines.
Cost
The cost for this trip is $15.00. This charge will be added to your school account.
Please contact Amy McBeath ([email protected]) if you have any questions about this trip.
After all the hard work put in this term, we hope students enjoy a well-deserved break. Take care and enjoy the holidays!
