The Kaikorai Market will run from 1:30-2:30 pm next Friday the 2nd of December.
Kia ora whānau,
Our market day is fast approaching. The classes have been busy learning about designing, prototyping, iterating, money, and hopefully making a profit. Each class offers something different: baked goods, tote bags, crafts, surprise jars, drinks, and Christmas fun and games stalls. Products range from 50 cents to $5 on the day. There is something for everyone!
On the day, Kaikorai ‘tokens’ will replace the use of money. Students and families can buy these tokens from the Kaikorai bank (kindly run by the math extension class). The bank will be open from 8:30 am - 9:00 am on Wednesday and Thursday morning in the middles learning street. Our bankers will also make their way around the classes each morning for those who miss out during this time. The bank will be open on Friday during the market day in the middles learning street for those who would like to handle their own money or can not make it during the week. Our bankers will note down how much you have bought next to your child's name and directly put this in their named envelope on Friday, so please note that you will not receive your tokens on Wednesday or Thursday.
Tokens available to buy - 50c, $1, $2, $5
We would appreciate students bringing no more than $10 if they go to the bank for extra tokens. Please note that it is not mandatory to buy extra at the bank as each child will receive $1 in tokens on the day to spend.
As the market closes at 2:30 pm, you are more than welcome to take your child/children home after this time as long as the teacher is aware they are leaving.
Important information -
The market day runs from 1:30-2:30 pm next Friday.
The bank will be open to buy tokens on Wednesday (30 Nov) and Thursday (1 Dec) morning at 8:30 am - 9:00 am. It will also be open during the market day.
Students will not receive their tokens until the teacher hands these out on Friday, right before the market day begins. The children will also receive any tokens you have bought prior in their envelope.
Each student will receive two free 50c tokens for their hard work in creating the products.
Thank you in advance for supporting our market day. The kids have put a lot of time and effort into this and are excited to show you what they have created! We hope to see you there.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask,
Ngā mihi
