Meet our Teacher Aides ~Kaiāwhina Kaiako!! They are an integral part of ensuring the needs of our tamariki are met.
Kaikorai Primary School is lucky enough to have 7 dedicated teacher aides who support our kaiako and work with ākonga with a wide range of needs.
The Teacher Aides at Kaikorai all have specific areas of expertise, skills and experience that are carefully used to meet the needs of all students. They work within the classroom environment and provide structured teaching programmes and one-on-one support.
Margaret runs our Quick 60 and Early Words reading programmes, and supports the Middle syndicate students in their classrooms. She is also our school librarian! I'm sure Margaret will FINALLY be in her element when our new library is up and running!
Sue runs an exciting Alphabet Group and Targeted Maths group. She also assists teachers in their classrooms, and can always be seen doing extra jobs around the school to help keep our school running smoothly.
Kelly plays an important role supporting our Junior students and has created and maintained positive relationships with many of the students she works with. She runs the Targeted Maths group with Sue and will often step in to help in the office when needed.
Jill has much experience supporting our tamariki with some of the highest needs. She is involved in implementing individualised programmes with the classroom teacher and SENCO, and always takes initiative in order to provide the best programme for the children she works with.
Renae provides small-group instruction and classroom support for our Senior students. She is always keen to take on new challenges and shows an interest in learning new things to ensure the students are happy, healthy and safe.
Jacinda can be seen in the Junior and Middle syndicates working diligently with small groups of students in core curriculum areas. Jacinda also provides engaging Speech and Language programmes for some of our tamariki.
AK is our newest teacher aide, who joined us in 2022. She has adjusted to her new role beautifully and is always willing to take on new challenges within her role. AK provides a calm, nurturing and fun working environment, always thinking ahead and using her skills to provide the best learning for her students.
We value YOU and appreciate YOU!!!
All Teacher Aides attend a meeting with the SENCO 2-3 times a term for professional development, attend all Teacher Only Days, and have individual learning goals to further their professional growth.
Teacher aides need to have knowledge of:
He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata! He tangata! He tangata! ~ What is the most important thing in the world? It is people! It is people! It
is people! ~
Thank you, Teacher Aides, for all that you do! What a fantastic learning support team we have at Kaikorai!
