Week 1 Principal's news

It was a fantastic occasion this morning, opening our new admin block. As I said in my speech this morning, however, it is much more than an admin block. We have a beautiful new library, a tinker space, a relaxing and calm staffroom, and a board room, I have an office suitable for meetings, and we have a welcoming (and easy-to-find) office area. It is another milestone in our school's 154-year-old history.  Thanks to Whaea Ana this morning for her karakia for our new spaces and for preparing our kapa haka rōpu.

I had the privilege of taking Talia and Libby down to the University Book Shop to select some new books for the library. To see two of our librarians so excited about finally having a library and their utter joy in being able to choose new books was heartwarming.

Thanks to Leon for his excellent speech about the new building and what it means to him.  Having been here since he was 5 years old, Leon had a lot of emotional connection to our school, and it was great to hear his point of view.

Thanks to whānau for joining us this morning, and again, I hope you are proud of our new spaces.

If you could not attend the opening this morning and would like to look around, please pop in any time next week.

Ngā manaakitanga

Beth
