Term 3 Project-Based Learning

Our driving question this term is; How Can We Encourage Healthy Living for Ourselves and Others?

Our Milestones are...

-creating a balanced and nutritious diet.

-building a growth mindset.

-building physical fitness.

-exercise that our bodies need to do to thrive.

-sharing outcomes with our community.

Kaikorai Cup PBL Sports Event

Every Tuesday afternoon, our senior students will compete in the Kaikorai Cup as part of this term's PBL. The Kaikorai Cup is a series of games that will be played during this term. Each child has been placed in a team. Please remind them to wear their team colour every Tuesday.

Virtual Adventure-Hauora for Life

It's all about helping children to develop healthy habits that benefit them every day in countless ways but also build the foundations of good mental and physical health and well-being to carry them into adulthood.

From the 15th of August, our senior students will be going on a virtual health and fitness adventure around the world. This is a very exciting opportunity for our students to be part of. Each student can choose to receive a pedometer to record their steps and complete the adventure. If you do not wish your child to have a pedometer, please let their teacher know.

Each student will create their own unique avatar, who they will see in the videos of each destination that our classes will "visit". To earn points to move the teams around the global course, tamariki engage in daily health habits in the real world, like eating fruit and vegetables, moving more often, sleeping well, minimising their leisure screen time and drinking plenty of water.

Year 6 Camp

If you have yet to receive emails regarding camp fundraising and camp information. Please let me know; important information will be sent to families soon.

Camp Volunteers

A form requesting parent volunteers will be sent out in the next few weeks. Please complete this form if you are interested in volunteering for school camp this year at Camp Columba from Tuesday, the 28th of November-Friday the 1st of December. We can take a maximum of ten parents with us this year and will prioritise those who can attend for the whole week, have helped frequently with fundraising and those with skills and experience in the outdoors. All parents are required to be Police Vetted before attending camp.

SeeSaw

Please remember to check SeeSaw! All teachers post important information about what is happening at school each week. SeeSaw provides opportunities to see what your child is learning in the classroom. If you have not been receiving SeeSaw posts, please contact your class teacher.

School Disco

Thank you for your incredible support at last week's Neon Disco event. Our students illuminated the dance floor in their bright and creative outfits. Our students danced the night away while enjoying delicious snacks and drinks prepared by our Parent Group.

Thank you, PALS, for helping at the disco, playing music and organising games. You were fantastic!

PALS Raffle

Thank you for supporting the PALS's raffle. They raised $137 towards new sports equipment.
