I orea te tuatara ka patu ki waho - A problem is solved by continuing to find solutions.

PBL

We have had an exciting start to the term exploring scientific understandings.  Our young scientists are delving into the fascinating world of matter – exploring the properties of solids, liquids, and gases. Through engaging hands-on activities and thought-provoking experiments, students are immersing themselves in the wonders of the physical world. With enthusiasm and curiosity, they're not just reading and researching, but actively participating in the scientific process. From observing changes in states of matter to conducting experiments that demonstrate various properties, our students are embracing their roles as budding scientists. Furthermore, they're not just absorbing knowledge; they're also learning to think critically and communicate like scientists, discussing their findings, asking insightful questions, and presenting their discoveries with confidence and clarity. Some classes have been looking at how display their information through creative projects and presentations.

On Monday, our teachers also presented our PBL work from this year with teachers with from local schools.  There was lots of positive feedback given to the effort and creativity students have put into their PBL projects.

Tūī Support Staff

We would like to acknowledge Margaret Galbraith and Kelly Mackay as part of Support Staff Day celebrations this week.  Both Margaret and Kelly provide wonderful expertise and care whenever they are support students in Tūī Hapori on a range of learning tasks.  Their work means our students are getting the best out of their learning.  We couldn't do it without you.

Pink Shirt Day

This week we have been talking about how to be great KAIK kids and supporting Pink Shirt Day.  Pink Shirt Day provides a wonderful opportunity for our students to embody our school's core values of being kind, aspiring, independent, and keen. Through discussions and taking part on the day they're not just taking a stand against bullying; they're also exemplifying kindness by showing support and empathy towards others. Through their participation, they aspire to create a school environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued. Pink Shirt Day encourages independence as students take individual action to promote inclusivity and spread positivity. Their keenness to embrace this important cause reflects their commitment to fostering a culture of acceptance and compassion within our school community.

Polyfest

We have registered our Kapa Haka group for Polyfest 2024. This year, over 100 year 3-6 students will perform. Our performance date for September will be confirmed soon. Thank you, Anh, Grace, and Amanda, for making new skirts and headbands for the group.

Heoi anō tāku mō nāianei - That's all for now.
