It is hard to believe that we are at the end of Term 3, it has been a very busy term with lots of activity around the school. Some of the highlights for me include;
Miss Dunn and her team of new entrants moving back into the upgraded Room tekau mā toru. It is now a bright modern learning space that matches the rest of the school with the added benefit of a fully integrated indoor/outdoor learning space.
Cultural Activities – Jump Jam & Polyfest were highlights of the term and I could not have been more proud of how our Kaik Kids represented Kaikorai School. The performances at each event were outstanding and our KAIK Values were on display at all times.
Kaikorai School Fair 2024 – The Fair Committee did an amazing job. Thank you to everyone who was involved in any capacity, although the weather was a bit challenging it certainly did not dampen any spirits.
The New Playground – you will all have seen the photos with the almost complete playground and the invitation to the opening on the first day of Term 4. The Board has worked countless hours getting this project to completion and I think the result is awesome. I look forward to seeing our tamariki enjoying the flying fox, navigating the climbing frame, digging holes in the sandpit and making mudpies in the outdoor kitchen. This project was fully funded by the Board with a generous donation from the Parents Group as a result of the very successful school fair.
During the term, the Board has farewelled two Trustees, Liz Harburg and Leia Silby. Both Liz and Leia have moved out of Dunedin to pursue new opportunities for their families, I personally thank you for your time and commitment to Kaikorai School. With all farewells come introductions, I would like to welcome Waihineata Smith who has been co-opted as a Māori Representative and Jared Glue.
A special thank you to all of our Kaikorai Staff - teachers and learning support staff, there is a lot of change in education at the moment and our dedicated team have been undertaking a lot of personal development during this year to continue to upskill themselves to provide the best learning environment possible for your children. I hope you all enjoy a well-deserved term break.
As always please feel free to reach out to the Board if you have any concerns. Good luck for the holiday break and I hope to see you at the Playground Opening on Monday 14th October at 9am.
Ngā mihi
