Me mahi tahi tātou mo te oranga o te katoa - We should work together for the wellbeing of everyone.

It's been a busy term with lots of exciting things happening.  I would like to thank everyone for their support of our programmes. Next term, we will be hoping for some more settled weather and lots of sunshine - this will also mean pulling school sunhats out of storage so that they can be worn in Term 4.

PBL

As you know, this term, we were been busy working on our project-based learning (PBL) unit for the school fair. Students collaborated to create a wide range of exciting products to sell, from handcrafted items to delicious treats. Throughout this project, we focused on our KAIK values: being kind by helping and supporting each other, aspiring to do our very best, showing independence by working on different aspects of our projects, and being keen to take on challenges and new skills. Everyone put in a huge effort, and we were proud of the final results!

The students were thrilled that their hard work paid off, knowing that the money they raised would go towards the new playground. It was an excellent opportunity to see the KAIK values in action, as they worked together, shared ideas, and showed determination to achieve their goals. The excitement around contributing to something that will benefit the whole school community was inspiring, and some students are already thinking about what they can create for the next fair!

Swimming

We would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who helped out with our swimming programme. Your support is essential in helping this programme run smoothly and to time. The results have just been sent through from JC Swim School and show the success of the programme. Students will each receive a certificate to show their achievements from this swimming block.

Tirohanga

Please fill out the permission form for our Term 4 day trip to Tirohanga.

As a part of our Education Outside The Classroom (EOTC), classes in the middle syndicate will be having a day trip at Tirohanga Camp on the Tuesday 29th of October.

This will give us many opportunities to demonstrate the school values and gives us plenty of real life learning opportunities across the curriculum. The day will give students the opportunity to take part in the following activities: a bush walk, confidence course, bouldering wall, nature exploration, and outdoor games.  Our trip will go ahead regardless of the weather.  As these activities are weather dependent, we may be restricted to inside activities.  These will be planned for and included in our risk management forms.

Important Information
Date: Tuesday 29th October
Leave school at 9:15 am and return by 2:55 pm.

Parent Help
We will need quite a few parent helpers to help support our students with the activities and to comply with guidelines.  Please note: Parent helpers bringing preschool children to Tirohanga is not appropriate, as it means we cannot include you in our safety ratios.

Cost

The cost for this trip is $16.00. This charge will be added to your school account.

Please contact Amy McBeath ([email protected]) if you have any questions about this trip.

We hope you are able to enjoy some family time over the holiday break.

Ngā mihi,

Jill Kumar, Emma Anderson, Amy McBeath
