Tomorrow, the kaiako of Kaikorai School will spend the day exploring the recently published new English curriculum. This revised and updated document aims to better meet the needs of our tamariki. Starting in 2025, both this English curriculum and the new maths curriculum will become mandatory.
We understand that teacher-only days can sometimes be challenging for families needing alternative care arrangements. However, we hope you appreciate the importance of this time for kōrero and understanding our new guiding documents, as these changes are significant for education in New Zealand.
In 2025, we are reorganising classes to create more cohesive hapori groupings. The rebuilding process and the phased demolition of our old buildings shaped the current syndicate structure. With these changes complete, it makes perfect sense to bring all our youngest learners together.
The 2025 room numbers are below.
Kererū hapori (Years 5-6)
Room 1 -Miss Hannah Sims
Room 2- Mrs Bridget McDowall - team leader
Room 3-Mr Kane McKay
Room 4- Miss Rosarah Hardie
Tūī hapori (Years 3-4)
Room 5 - Mrs Jill Kumar
Room 6 - Miss Hannah Jones
Room 7 - Mrs Amy McBeath - team leader
Room 8 - Mrs Emma Anderson
Pīwakawaka hapori (Years 0-2)
Room 9 - Mrs Heid Cleland - art room for Term 1 then NE Class
Room 10- Mrs Paula Fisher
Room 11- Ms Emily Armstrong - team leader
Room 12 - Miss Immy Youngs
Room 13 - Miss Courtney Dunn
I have really enjoyed having kōrero with many of you about your child’s class placement for 2025. There are often factors we may not be aware of, so it’s essential to share and discuss this information. Your child’s 2025 teacher will be noted on their end-of-year report, which will be emailed to you on 6/12/24.
Please note that class lists are now finalised.
Next week, we will take 22 athletes to the Caledonian to compete with others from all around Otago. Meeting the qualifying standard and being invited to attend is an achievement. Congratulations to all those involved, and I look forward to sharing their successes with you next week.
As always, thank you for your support.
