The air buzzed with excitement as well known Kiwi author, Maria Gill, and talented author/illustrator Fifi Colston visited our school. Maria shared captivating tales of New Zealand's history, weaving vivid descriptions and engaging storytelling. Fifi's whimsical illustrations were brought to life through her animated puppets and explanations. They shared their passion for reading and writing, leaving a lasting impression on our Kaik Kids to explore the world of books.

Students have delved into their Arctic PBL, transforming themselves into creative bookworms. Groups have collaborated to create captivating book displays, each showcasing a unique theme. Some have crafted intricate dioramas inspired by stories of Arctic animals, while others have designed learning around artwork. As Book Week approaches, the classrooms have been preparing for this exciting week.

Our Pīwakawaka kapa haka group performed with passion as they led karakia and sang waiata. A special thank you to Whaea Ana Pene for her support and guidance. Her expertise was instrumental in our success, and we are incredibly grateful for her contribution to our kapa haka journey.

Kā mihi nui,

Ruth Faulkner on behalf of the Junior Pīwakawaka Team.
